Smart Home Technology in Silver Lake
Mid-century hillside restorations, reservoir-view builds, and home studios for creative professionals — design-conscious smart home systems for one of LA's most architecturally rich neighborhoods.
Premium Home Automation Services in Silver Lake
Silver Lake is one of the most design-conscious neighborhoods in our service area. The architecture is significant — Neutra, Lautner, and other mid-century icons in the Hills, plus a strong stock of Spanish revivals and contemporary builds. The clients are heavily creative — musicians, designers, writers, directors — and they care about how their homes feel as much as how they function. We work to match that.
Common architectural styles in Silver Lake
Mid-century modern · Spanish revival · Reservoir-view contemporary · Hillside contemporary · Craftsman
Silver Lake projects share characteristics with our Hollywood Hills and Los Feliz work — significant mid-century architecture, design-conscious clients, and a heavy emphasis on getting the aesthetic right. What's unique to Silver Lake is the music-and-creative-professional crowd. We end up designing more home studios and serious listening rooms here than almost anywhere else.
Projects we typically do in Silver Lake
Silver Lake Hills mid-century restorations
The Silver Lake Hills above the reservoir are full of significant mid-century homes — Neutra, Lautner, and others — that get carefully restored for current owners. We retrofit with hidden equipment, wireless Lutron, architectural speakers, and concealed wiring, treating the architecture as the priority and technology as the support.
Reservoir-view contemporary builds
The contemporary new builds and gut renovations facing the reservoir typically benefit from view-driven design — full-height glass, indoor-outdoor flow, terraces and decks. We design motorized shading, Lutron lighting tuned to the views, and audio plans that work indoors and out as a single integrated system.
Creative-professional home studios and music rooms
Silver Lake has one of the highest concentrations of working musicians and recording artists in the city. We design home studios, listening rooms, and music-room audio that hold up to professional standards — often integrated with the rest of the home's smart system through Control4 or Savant.

Why LA Techs in Silver Lake?
We're a CEDIA member and authorized by Control4, Lutron, and Savant — and that matters. It means we've passed the training, we have direct manufacturer support, and we're accountable to a higher standard. We're not a generalist AV company doing smart home on the side. This is all we do, every day, throughout Silver Lake and the rest of LA.
The full scope of what we cover: whole-home automation, home theater and distributed audio, cameras and security, networking and WiFi, lighting control, motorized shades, and climate automation. One team. One system. Everything works together — because we designed it that way from the start.
New build, gut renovation, or a targeted upgrade — we've done all three throughout Silver Lakeand the greater LA area. We work directly with your architect, GC, and interior designer. The wiring gets planned before the walls close, not after. That's how you end up with a clean install instead of surface-mounted conduit and regret. Schedule a consultation and let's figure out what your project actually needs.
"I make records for a living and my home studio is half my world. LA Techs designed audio and a control system that fits how I actually work — not some corporate-showroom version of what they thought I needed."
— Aksel Bjornstad, Silver Lake Resident
Frequently asked: smart homes in Silver Lake
Do you work in Silver Lake?
Yes — Silver Lake is a regular service area. We work throughout the 90026 and 90039 zip codes, including the Silver Lake Hills, the reservoir-adjacent streets, and the flats. We're a CEDIA member and a Control4, Lutron, and Savant dealer.
Can you handle a mid-century home without ruining the architecture?
Yes — that's a core part of what we do in Silver Lake. We have established playbooks for Neutra, Lautner, and other mid-century homes — hidden equipment, wireless Lutron, architectural speakers with paint-matched grilles, and concealed wiring. The technology disappears.
Can you build a home studio or music room?
Yes. We've designed home studios, listening rooms, and music spaces for Silver Lake clients ranging from working session musicians to producers with full home setups. We integrate with the rest of the smart home so the studio is part of the system, not separate from it.
