Built Into
the Blueprint

LA Techs partners with architects, interior designers, and custom home builders from the first set of drawings through final walkthrough. Smart home technology that's designed in — not bolted on.

Why It Matters

Technology decisions made late cost everyone

When a smart home integrator comes in after framing, walls get opened, conduit gets added as an afterthought, and equipment rooms end up in the wrong place. The result is a system that works but never looks or functions the way it should.

We've been brought in at every stage of construction across hundreds of Los Angeles projects. The projects that turn out best — and run the smoothest — are the ones where we're at the table during design.

No wall openings or retrofits during construction
Equipment rooms sized and located correctly
Conduit routes coordinated with structure and MEP
Lighting plans developed with the design intent
Single scope, single budget, no surprises

Who We Work With

Built for the whole team

Architects

Integrated from schematic design forward

We speak your language. When you bring us in at SD or DD, we coordinate infrastructure, conduit routing, and equipment locations so technology never fights the architecture — it disappears into it.

  • Technology scope document for permit sets
  • CAD/BIM coordination with your team
  • Infrastructure and conduit planning
  • Equipment room and rack space planning
  • Client presentation support
  • Specification writing for bid documents

Interior Designers

Technology that serves the design

Keypads, speakers, displays, and controls are interior details too. We collaborate on finish selections, equipment placement, and concealment strategies so nothing breaks the visual story you've built.

  • Keypad and control finish selection
  • Speaker and display placement review
  • Custom millwork and concealment coordination
  • Lighting design collaboration with Lutron
  • Sample review and product approval process
  • Equipment concealment and furniture coordination

Builders & Developers

Pre-wire packages and turnkey delivery

We've run technology scopes on hundreds of custom homes and spec developments across Los Angeles. Our pre-wire packages are clean, well-documented, and designed to make your life easier — not harder.

  • Pre-wire packages for new construction
  • Coordination with all sub-contractors
  • On-time, on-budget delivery
  • Single point of contact for all tech scopes
  • Value-engineering options
  • Warranty and support programs

How It Works

From plans to move-in

01

Design & Schematic

We review plans, define the technology scope, and produce a full infrastructure document. No surprises later.

02

Pre-Wire & Rough-In

We coordinate with your GC and all trades. Every wire, conduit, and box placed correctly the first time.

03

Trim & Commissioning

Devices installed, systems programmed, and everything tested before your client walks in the door.

04

Handoff & Support

Client orientation, documentation, and ongoing support. We're a resource for your clients long after move-in.

What We Install

Every system, one partner

We scope and install all low-voltage systems as a single coordinated package — no hand-offs, no gaps.

Lutron Lighting & Shading

Homeworks QSX and RadioRA 3 for complete lighting control

Control4 & Savant Automation

Whole-home control from a single interface

Home Theater & AV

Dedicated screening rooms, distributed audio, outdoor entertainment

Enterprise Networking

Common Questions

Questions from the field

When in the design process should we bring in LA Techs?

The earlier the better — ideally at Schematic Design or early Design Development. This is when infrastructure decisions are made: where equipment rooms go, how conduit routes through the structure, where panels are located. Bringing us in at CD or during framing works too, but it costs more and creates conflicts. Early involvement saves money and produces better results.

Do you provide specifications for architect bid documents?

Yes. We produce full technology specifications suitable for inclusion in your construction documents. We can provide Division 27 (Communications) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety & Security) sections, as well as narrative specifications for lighting control, home automation, and AV systems.

Can you coordinate directly with the general contractor and other trades?

That's standard practice for us. We work directly with GCs, electricians, MEP engineers, and millwork shops on every project. We attend site meetings, respond to RFIs, and handle all coordination so you don't have to.

What does a typical pre-wire package include?

A standard pre-wire package includes all low-voltage cabling (audio, video, data, security), conduit where required, rough-in boxes and enclosures, equipment room infrastructure, and documentation. We tailor the scope to the project — a 3,000 SF new build looks different from a 15,000 SF estate in Bel Air.

Do you work on spec homes as well as custom builds?

Yes. We've completed technology scopes on both custom homes and spec developments across Los Angeles. For spec homes, we offer standardized packages that provide strong value for buyers without over-engineering the scope.

What neighborhoods does LA Techs serve for new construction?

We work throughout Los Angeles County — Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Holmby Hills, Pacific Palisades, Malibu, Brentwood, Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Hancock Park, Hollywood Hills, and everywhere in between. If you're building in LA, we serve that market.
